Saturday´s wishlist: lastest crushes...

I have an addiction, I am shopaholic .... And to ease up my addiction (as I have a limited budget to indulge in clothes...), I went eye shopping last weekend, and stop by a few of my favourite shops, Mango, white stuff and Anthro. And I have a few items that I would like to add to my wardrobe...

Writing a wish list is not nearly as bad as bankrupting this month´s budget on clothing.

I have a huge crush on this season´s white stuff collection. While I was browsing White Stuff store, I realized that my wish list wouldn´t stop growing… I edited an outfit mixing a few of my favourite items from these shops...:

I think since since Spring already arrived it wouldn´t be too bad adding a few springlike items to my wardrobe would it...?

Friday´s thoughts: My baby is growing up

A couple of weeks ago I would blame my little baby for my sleepless nights. Tonight he is sleeping peacefully and quietly in his own cot , and I am still wide awake. I am exhausted and tired but yet I cannot sleep… I am still waiting, or better, hoping that he might need his mummy for some reason… But this is not happening. I should be happy, really, I really need to be resting and sleeping properly so I can finish my research, wake up tomorrow work ready. But no, I am suffering quietly, while I perceive that my little one is growing up. I asked for some sleep time,  complaint for so long for these sleepless nights… And now that I have them, I see now that secretly I was content that I was needed so intensely, even during night time.

Sleeping on his own, and for the whole night (which never happened for 15 months) is not the only happening that made me realize that my baby is not a baby anymore, but already a toddler…:
Today he wanted to eat by himself. He refused to be spoon-fed by his mummy, he grabbed the spoon on his own and ate by himself (making a whole new level of mess along the way…)!

He does not have a toothless smile anymore; four little milk-teeth are stubbornly showing. Yes, against my selfish mummy heart, who wanted, hoped that this baby phase would last a bit longer…

I am struggling with my mixed emotions. I am so happy while sad at the same time!

I am so happy and proud of all his accomplishments. It´s wonderful to witness him blossom. I am so very proud of my cute baby boy – no, I am so very proud of my cute toddler!

I am proud that he is starting to walk though he still has difficulties in keeping balance, he still needs support in order to stand up, but he is not content by just crawling around, he likes to be standing up, and is working hard on walking by himself… I can see he is striving. And I am happy to show him all that he can do, and the way to do it… yet I yearn for my baby. My sweet and little tiny baby, who craved for my cuddles all the time. I miss him so much... I love my son, terribly, but I am having a hard time realizing that he is growing up... I am having a hard time realizing that time is passing by so fast... I wish to hold close my little baby, I wish for him to stay little a little bit longer.

But no, so it´s official. My baby boy is not a baby any more, but a toddler. I guess he has been a toddler for some time now (isn´t he suppose to be a toddler after 1 year?), but only now I see that. I am not quite sure why is this hard, it´s not like he is ready to leave the nest (he will never leave the nest, right?), but is the idea that time is flying…. so very very fast! I hardly can keep up. And I am missing my little baby.

Only yesterday he was born. He was so tiny, so light... So dependent.

And now he is sleeping on his own.
Eating on his own.
Almost walking on his own!

I don´t have a baby anymore, now I am a toddler´s mother!

My Liebster Award

liebster award

The lovely Stephanie, who blogs over at Our next few steps nominated me for a liebster award!

I was really surprised,  happy but mostly honoured to  be nominated. Basically, this award is a way to meet new bloggers and  give other bloggers a chance for them to know you. This is an excellent way to interact with other bloggers, and better yet, get your blog out there too...!

The rules are very simple:
Thank the person who nominated you and link back to their blog;
Answer their questions in a blog post;
Nominate at least 10 blogs with 400 followers of less for the Liebster Award;
Ask some questions of your own;
let your nominees know you nominated them!
All is explained and now, lets answer the questions prepared by Stephanie:

1. Why did you decide to start blogging?

I don´t have a simple answer for this, so bear with me... I have been through different moments in life that led me to blog, stop and resume blogging again. My very first post went live sometime in 2006, and it just shows a picture of my favourite bush, Magnolia x soulangeana which happens to be the reason why my blog´s name is Magnolia, and why the web address might be considered complicated for some, it´s the landscape architect side of me showing up... I didn´t continue to blog as I didn´t have a real reason to blog at the time. Some years later, late 2013, my partner and I  moved to a new rental and at the time I started and finished some DIY projects and decided to blog about it. I also bought my very first sewing machine and posted about my sewing projects. Then the most wonderful thing happened to us, we became pregnant! Our lives changed completely and my reason to blog was more obvious. I then started to post about motherhood, the little mischiefs of my little one and all things babies and now toddlers, related. I still post about my crafts projects, when I have time to do some.

2. What do you love & hate most about blogging?

What I love about blogging... There are so many things that I love about it...! For starters, I love the blogging community, who mostly is welcoming and so very helpful and friendly! I also love the fact that blogging has pushed me to learn so much about different things as designing techniques, even made me learn about html, and gave me a reason to draw once again!
What I hate? Humm, I don´t think there's any reason for me to hate blogging, otherwise I wouldn´t be doing it at all....

3. If you won £1,000 what would be the first thing you buy?

I have no idea ... maybe I would buy my babynew things that he might need, as usual, like some new outfits or similar... Or I just might  indulge myself with some new fabrics for my sewing projects!

4. How would you describe yourself in three sentences or less?

This is a difficult one!
First and foremost I am a mother, which pretty much defines me and influences anything that I do. I am also a post-grad student and I have to finish my doctorates degree at some point this year which means that I am a really  stressed up person! I am also a very friendly and social, although very shy; I love hanging out with my friends which rarely happens nowadays; finally I am a caffeine addict and I also love to end the day with a nice glass of red.

5. Name one thing you would never change about yourself?

Another difficult one! My forgiving and caring nature.... these two are very important these days.

6. Tell us your most embarrassing memory?

I have so many of these, which one to choose.... Leaving the house wearing a different pair of socks, but wayyy different socks. My husband was the one that noticed it once I got home, by the end of the day. I blame being sleep deprived. Or baby head brain, or whatever baby related affliction...

7. Three things you couldn't live without?

My camera, my laptop and my blackberry. In that order!

8. Your favourite quote?

I have a favourite author, Fernando Pessoa, and there´s a quote from his Book of Disquiet which I relate with: “My soul is impatient with itself, as with a bothersome child; its restlessness keeps growing and is forever the same. Everything interests me, but nothing holds me. I attend to everything, dreaming all the while. […]. I'm two, and both keep their distance"

My Nominations:

 My Questions

1. When did you start blogging and why?
2. What is your favourite blog post and why?
3. What do you hope to accomplish with your blog?
4. What do you do in your "offline" life?
5. If you could choose any place, where would you live?
6. What is your favourite movie?
7. What is your favourite book?
8. Name three things on your bucket list.
9. Name three dream destinations.
10. Three things you could not live without.

Stephanie,  once again thank you for the nomination!

Lovely ladies, I am looking forward to read all your posts!

Baby girl felt and fabric hearts mobile

hearts, pink, sewing, baby girl mobile, felt, fabric
So I finally finish this little crafts Project of mine. I hope baby M loves this!

I basically used the templates that I created to make my other mobile and I only had to draw and prepare a hearts template to use for this new one. I had tons of fabric and felt leftovers and samples, so I needn’t have to buy any fabrics.

After cutting all the pieces, I embroidered baby´s M name with light pink cotton thread on the half felt cloud. The back of the cloud is a pink dots fabric that matches with pink dots hearts. All hearts have in one of the sides either a pink fabric dot or a pink fabric, and the back side as white felt. I hand stitched the hearts and the cloud with blanket stitch using the same light pink cotton thread.

The method that I used is fairly similar to my other mobile. First I attached the hearts to each other in columns using finish line. Afterwards I attached the hearts column to the cloud…

And here it is!
Baby M will now have a lovely heart mobile to enjoy... I do hope she likes it!

Preparations for another baby mobile!

My family just keeps getting bigger!

A new member of my family was born,  this time is a baby girl! To celebrate this new arrival I will be sewing another baby mobile, but in pink and white tones. I know, its too girly, but after making mobiles for baby boys I am loving embracing pink tones, just to be a bit different!

And this will be very very girly! This is not the very first baby girl arriving, but my crafting abilities (and time) were not available at the time to celebrate the first baby girl. So, only now I will be crafting heart shapes with  pink tones... As girly as possible! I have to admit that I was longing to craft girly stuff... Here are the fabrics that I will be using:

And I will be sewing a flower headband to my older little cousin.... I found this amazing felt flower tutorials that I am anxious to try....! I will post about this project later on.

What about you? Thinking about new crafting projects to tackle? Let me know about them!

100 Blog posts!

Hello there!

This is my 100th post! Oh my, who would say that I would get so far, writing 100 posts?

I still have many goals to achieve with my little blog, but I am proud of what I was already able to create so far...
It was a bumpy ride, not only for my little blog, but for my family life, we have been thru a lot, but it was a happy journey nevertheless.

And where I am going now? I know that the goals for 2015 posts were suppose to be online during January, but, I don´t see these as 2015 goals, but general goals that you can set yourself to accomplish anywhere on time... And here are my goals:

1 - I aim to increase my audience, and for that I plan to participate on more linkys. I believe that the linkys that I was able to participate so far helped me a lot not only on my stats, but allowed to  know many interesting blogs, and what other mummy and crafter bloggers are doing around the blogosphere.

2 - I also hope to become a more active blogger by interacting more with other bloggers. For starters I will be participating for the first time on the Very Berry´s Artist Trading Card Swap. I am quite anxious about this one to be honest! I was browsing the Flickr group created for this swap, and the previous cards made are simply gorgeous! I am so scared that I am might not be crafty enough… Here´s a little preview of my ATC :

What do you think?

3 – I will be writing at least on a weekly base. It’s quite difficult for me some times to do this, as I am also working, and I am so behind on my research...! And without mentioning all the house chores that have to be done...That means that working on my blog os not my very first thing to do... and is really easy to leave it unattended. But at least one post should be manageable. My Sunday post, which is usually a picture taken during some time the past week is the one I am aiming to be post on time!

On a more personal level, I want/desperately need to be more organized, not only my blog needs some more organization, but my life in general... This is a difficult one to achieve to be honest... And it is a goal that I set my self every now and then...It is incredible hard for me to be organized...
But I am juggling so much at the moment that I need to organize my life.... And succeed on it!

What about you? Planning any changes on your life?
